The Government of the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico has issued a blue alert in case of hurricanes due to the presence of the Tropical Storm Emily in the Caribbean Sea, the blue alert represents low danger for the Mexican Caribbean and it is recommended to follow the official bulletins regarding this storm issued only by the government. Because of the distance of Emily from the coast of Mexico (1,569 miles ESE, 2,525 km) the storm does not represent any danger for Mexico at this time, the current forecasts indicates a WNW movement and if this trend continues Emly coudld be approaching the Florida coast on this weekend as a tropical storm. We will continue watching its development since tropical cyclones can change its path at any time. |

The tropical storm Don is already in the Gulf of Mexico and heading to the Texas coast, interested in Corpus Christi and Brownsville should watch Don closely. There is no rain in Cancun since last night and no wind, it is 7:42am and the sky is mostly cloudy but no rain, we still have the outer bands of Don over the Yucatan Peninsula, scattered showers are expected in the afternoon. |

The tropical wave that we have been tracking becomes tropical storm Don and it was located 66 miles north of Cancun, its movement is NW at 12mph. The Government of Quintana Roo issued a green alert for the area of Cancun, Don is heading to the Gulf of Mexico and the only effects that we are having from him is persistent drizzling, weather conditions will improve here in Cancun on the next 12 to 18 hours. The National Hurricane Center may issue watches or warnings for portions of the Texas coast. |
