Cancun Tropical Weather

Rina lost the status of tropical storm and now is a Tropical Depression, this system is weakening rapidly over the course of the hours so we hope it dissipates over the ocean in the next 24 hours. Rina was located at 10:00am at 55 miles NNE of Cancun over the ocean.

Rina entered to Cancun as tropical storm last night and lasted until 4:00am, now it is in the ocean at 20 miles north of Cancun and continues weakening so it could become a tropical depression in a short period of time, however we have verified the forecast for this tropical storm and looks like that before it reaches the central Yucatan channel it could make a loop and come back but over the sea, we will keep tracking the behavior of this storm. Cancun is is one piece, no damages at all but few fallen trees, no floodings, no power blackouts. At this moment there is no wind at all and no rain, things are getting back to normal. The airport is open although some airlines cancelled their flights as preventive measure for possible hurricane, because of that there are many flights delayed so if you are comming into Cancun or departing please be patient.

A few minutes ago the Hurricane Rina was downgraded to Tropical Storm Rina and it was located at 90 miles south of Cozumel. We have information that the airport will remains open for operations although there are some airlines that opted to cancel their flights to Cancun, we are having in Cancun a light rain and no wind at all. As soon as the new report be released by the government we will post it here.

Good morning! Hurricane Rina continues weakening and soon could become a tropical storm before it reaches Cozumel this afternoon, that's good news for us since the damages would not be as bad as a category 3 hurricane as it was forecasted. This morning the sky is overcast and no wind, short periods of drizzling. We are waiting for the official statement of the spokesman of the Cancun airport in order we can know what is the situation with the airport services and we will post the information here, please check later this morning.
